GIMS and GITC
At the ComSoc BoG meeting in Seoul (ICC 2005) the committee led by Roberto de Marca presented its findings and recommendations, including a split of GICC into two separate committees named GIMS and GITC. The main objective was to improve the infrastructure for the continuous evolution of GC and ICC as the "oversight" committees of its flagship events.
GIMS: GLOBECOM/ICC Management and Strategy Committee
The objective of the GIMS committee is to oversee the operational preparation and management and do strategic planning of these two annual technical conferences on telecommunications research, technology and applications. GIMS began its work in January, 2006. GIMS is a ComSoc Standing Committee and reports to the VP-Conferences. More details may be found in the GIMS Charter (updated July 27, 2009).
GITC: GLOBECOM/ICC Technical Committee
The objective of GITC is to provide strategic vision and manage the technical content of these two annual technical conferences on telecommunications research, technology and applications. GITC began its work in September, 2005. GITC is a ComSoc Standing Committee and reports to the VP - Conferences and the VP - Technical Activities. More details may be found in the GITC Charter (updated January 1, 2008).
GIMS and GITC meet twice each year in conjunction with ICC and Globecom.
Each Organizing Committee (OC) for the active ICC and Globecom conferences is expected to report on their planning progress. The basic information for these reports is taken from the GIMS and GITC Decision Matrix (DM). The DM contains deliverables for specific mile markers in the planning process, e.g., C-36 (Conference Date minus 36 months). These deliverables must be fully addressed at the specified times to ensure a successful conference.
As the Site Selection process awards future conference venues, those new OCs will join the other active conferences and present their planning progress at GIMS and GITC meetings as well.
Conference reports are posted on this portal after each GIMS and GITC meeting
